A MAN BORN BLIND
RECEIVES SIGHT
JOHN CHAPTER 9
The disciples asked Jesus “who sinned? This man or his
parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus said “neither. This happened so the works of God can
be revealed.”
I know this world is not how it was originally created. God
created perfection. Man ruined it by going against what God said. This is why
we have sickness. Yes, sometimes the sickness comes from living a life of sin.
If I drink alcohol in excess, I may get cirrhosis of the liver. If I have
multiple sex partners and they have several sex partners I may become sick with
a disease of my reproductive tract or get cancer. If I eat too much sugar or
other foods (gluttony) I may develop diabetes or heart disease. If I stress
over work and complain all the time, gossip, cheat others, and lie I could
develop all kinds of sickness. The list could go on, headaches, constipation,
anxiety, body aches, arthritis, etc. I think you understand.
Putting things in my
body and mind that are not healthy, increases my chances of sickness.
When I become sick I ask God to reveal to me what needs to
be done to resolve my illness or better yet I ask what do I need to do to make
me whole. Something is obviously “off”, when I become sick. When I sit quietly
before God, I KNOW He will answer. If a sin is revealed, I need to ask for
forgiveness. Stress is a part of life. The way I handle stress is the issue.
When I am not fully trusting God with life circumstances and stress comes in to
the point of not sleeping, not wanting to eat, depression enters and yes, I
consider that sin in my life. When I get sick I want the works of God to be
revealed in me. I have some friends
going through cancer and they are allowing the works of God to be revealed in
them. I look at these ladies and wow…the joy they have as the works of God are being
revealed.
As far as the blind man, I doubt it was easy for him or his
family that he never had sight. After the blind man was given site, people
asked him how it happened. He told them a man named Jesus made clay and
anointed my eyes and said to me, “go to the pool of Siloam and wash”. So I
went, washed and received my site. The blind man had listened to Jesus and did
what he was told to do.
We need to go. Go where? To God. We need to wash. Wash in
what? Wash in what will cleanse us from all unrighteousness, which is the blood
of Jesus, shed on the cross for us. We will then receive site. But you may
think you already see. Did not the Pharisees think that? It is amazing what the
Holy Spirit will do in your life to see things spiritually. This is hard to
explain. You will see things differently. What you may have seen to “be good”,
no longer is viewed as good to you. What love is, and how to give it, may look
different to you. The love you receive after “being washed” allows you to love
others in ways you never knew you could.
I pray and ask God to heal me. I always ask for healing as I
have learned I must ask for that first. I also ask He lead me to whatever is
needed. I have been dealing with a health issue for over a year. I’ve asked God
for healing and to show me what to do. An allergist wanted to give me $2500
shots which would be needed every 2 weeks then once a month. I prayed and I do
not want these shots. I have read about them and don’t have 100% certainty that
this is where God is leading me. I came across a book I was not looking for
about histamine production from foods. There have been different things on the
internet I came across. I was not specifically searching these things out, but
I do believe God gave me “site” to see things that would help me. I have to pay
attention to this. The environment in
Georgia is not healthy for me. Mold in the air in Georgia is very high and the
allergist confirmed mold allergies. I was bitten by ticks a couple months after
we moved here and I do believe that has set me up for all the sensitivities I
have been having.
I do know that I want the works of God to be revealed in my
healing! Did God set all of this up so
we would move? We moved to Georgia from New Hampshire for a wonderful job for
my husband. We wanted to leave the cold behind and get a bit closer to family.
My husband got laid off after 4 months of moving to Georgia. He started a
handyman business right away and the Lord blessed him with work daily through
that business. I even helped him from time to time. My husband continued to
apply for work and had several interviews after Covid seemed to get under
control. He worked the avionics industry and business was down tremendously. My
husband did get a job and it is remote which means he can work from home,
traveling from time to time for trade shows. The job God blessed us with is
remote so that means we can live anywhere as he works for this company. We were
thinking of going somewhere dryer so I wouldn’t be so affected by molds.
Where do we go? We could go to Texas where the company is
located for my husband’s work. My parents have been praying for me and my
allergies. My mom said she was trying not to pray selfish prayers. I knew what
that meant. She wanted us near them, but
didn’t want to be praying specifically for that, but that a job would be
provided where we could go for better health for me. God does grant the desires
of our heart in ways we never dream of. I did ask the Lord about 15 years ago
to please let me be with my parents when they die. They are 82 and about 15
years ago my mom had an emergency surgery and I was in New Hampshire and would
not have been able to get to Las Vegas in time to say goodbye. She survived,
took her over a year to recover, but she did!!
Praise God!!
At that point I put my request into the Lord. I never
dreamed we would move to the same city. I was just asking to be able to make it
when they only had a few days left. God is granting me time to be with them
while they can still get around, while we can still share meals together and
argue with one another. This move will be us farther from our daughters, but
here I go again! Need to trust in God’s
timing we will be closer to each other.
Please don’t doubt God when you pray. He always hears you.
Don’t dwell on that which you want. Give it to God and keep living. He’s got
you, and He is ALWAYS WORKING. I’ve learned I don’t always have to be working ,
but I do need to always be trusting. As the blind mans blindness was to reveal
God’s glory, allow whatever is going on in your life to reveal His glory.
