Doing What David Said, For My Health!

Thanking David For Showing Me What May Be Causing My Sickness

Have you ever read the Bible to see what it says about our health? It really does tell us a lot about how to restore our health. The one who created this body of mine actually has some very wise words on how to take care of it.

I see in Psalm 38 that David actually says he had no health left in his body or soundness in his bones. Have you ever felt that way?

David, the psalmist, talks about being rebuked or disciplined by God. He asks God not to get angry with him. He said there’s no health in his body or soundness in his bones. He acknowledges the reason. He says, “Because of my sin.” He feels guilt. The guilt is overwhelming and feels like a burden too heavy to bear.

He goes on to mention the RESULTS of his sinful folly. Wounds fester and are loathsome. He’s bowed down and brought very low. He goes about mourning. His back is full of searing pain, and no health is left in his body. He’s feeble, literally crushed, and groans in anguish of heart.

He goes to God openly with his longings and sighs. His heart pounds, and his strength is failing; even light has gone from his eyes.

Where are his friends, companions, and neighbors? They avoid him because of his wounds. They stay far away. This is the perfect time for his enemies to enter his life. Those who want to see him dead set traps for him. He says, “Those who would harm me, talk of my ruin and plot deception.”

He then compares himself to a deaf man. One who cannot hear, like a mute, who cannot open his mouth. If he can’t hear, he can’t reply.

He chooses to wait on the Lord. He knows He will answer.

He asks for no one to gloat or exalt themselves over him when his foot slips. (I’m thinking of those trying to get out of addiction and fall, yet no one shows grace)

He acknowledges he’s about to fall and how great this pain is. It always seems to be there.

Here is his key to regaining health. Are you ready to read this?

“I confess my iniquity. I am troubled by my sin.”

Enemies are always going to be around, repaying any good he has done with evil. Some people hate. They don’t need a reason. They will speak badly no matter what good anyone does.

He is pleading for God to be near. He asks God to come quickly to help him, calling out to the Lord his Savior.

Whenever you feel you may have slipped so far into sin and sickness strikes, like David, come to God with those words. Confess where you’ve gone against God and His ways. If you are troubled by your sin, not just the results of your sin, God sees you.

Many times, it is the results of our sinful folly that bring us to God. Sometimes it’s our enemies that lead us back to God as we need His protection. In a weakened state, we can be overcome by the world and its ways.

I’ll leave you with these words from David, Psalm 38. You can speak them anytime you need them. If there’s anything you need to confess to God and receive His forgiveness, do that first.

“O Lord, do not forsake me, be not far from me, O my God. Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior.”

He will renew your strength and bring light to your eyes.

Sickness upon a person or things that happen may not ALWAYS be your own fault, but when it is, we need to acknowledge it and get back on the right road! I believe David was talking about the Roman Road. Check it out in these verses, Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, and 10:13. Get your Bible out or look at the verses on line. Once you take that road, start walking the path God lays out, not trying to go your own way; He will and does make a way for you.

Who's Giving Up Bread? NOT ME!

Who’s Giving Up Bread? NOT ME!

(dedicated to my mom, 1939-November 2025)

How much bread do you eat in a given week? What is your favorite bread? I really like sourdough bread. I’m not talking about the sourdough bread that tastes like white bread. You bread people know what I’m talking about. My brother makes a sourdough rye bread, but I don’t really care for rye. I think it’s because I have a sensitivity to it. Pumpernickel was never a favorite either.  Some people give up bread, as they don’t believe it gives them any health benefits. Are you one of those people? When eating out and they bring a basket of bread, yes, I have to try it. When it’s fresh and warm, I cannot pass it up. I have never restricted my diet to no bread or even super low carbs. I do try to limit the amount of refined sugars I eat. My husband reminds me that potatoes and bread turn into sugar. It’s not the same as eating a candy bar or even my beloved ice cream.

When living in New Hampshire, we would buy When Pigs Fly sourdough bread. When we moved to Georgia and then to Nevada, it was not available to me in those states. I did find out that I could purchase it online and have it mailed to me. I didn’t do that, but searched for a sourdough near me that would satisfy my taste buds. I would check out farmers' markets and bakery areas at the local supermarkets in search of a “just right” sourdough. I never did find a sourdough bread I consistently felt like buying. I have paid $12.00 for a loaf of bread. What is the most you have paid for a loaf of bread?

How many of us grew up with “Wonder Bread”? You may remember the packaging. It was white with colored circles on it. I just looked up a package of Wonder Bread, and yes, it has the primary colors, red, yellow, and blue circles on it. The packaging has changed a bit. The circles are bigger as is their logo. We did not grow up with much bread. I don’t recall one time in my life ,growing up, when we had homemade bread fresh out of the oven. What I do remember is that almost daily, we had fresh tortillas off the cast-iron skillet. We were making wraps before wraps were a thing. My mom would roll bologna in a tortilla, peanut butter and jelly in a tortilla, and of course, the homemade beans, cooked in lard and refried, with lots of cheese, were put in the tortilla. We did have bread in the house, but again, we ate a tortilla with our breakfast, not toast.

There’s a bread that has become my all-time favorite, forever bread. I will never stop wanting it, seeking it out, or being filled and satisfied by it. Some people may consider it “wonder bread”, it’s actually “life giving” bread. It’s always available, but the cost is more than anyone could ever pay. The great news is that it’s been purchased for you, free to all who desire it. All we need to do is receive it, and take of it daily. If you ever hear of anyone saying they don’t eat bread, tell them how good this bread is and the benefits it will bring to the body, mind and spirit. My mom received this bread.

Here it is: Jesus said:

Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness (my ancestors ate the tortillas ), yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which ANYONE may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Many people thought this was a hard teaching and quit following Jesus. I find it very hard when I hear people say, “I don’t eat bread”. That’s a hard saying for me. I don’t walk away from bread made on this earth and surely never want to walk away from Jesus, our bread sent from heaven.

Please read John 6:42-71

My mom is still living; she took this life-giving bread and lives today. Her physical body is no longer here. If you read 2 Corinthians Chapter 5, you will see that even if she is absent from the body, she lives with the Lord. No more groaning, pain, or enduring what physical life brought.

“For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now, He who has prepared up for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.”

LOOK AT THAT A GUARNATEE!!

“So we are always confident. (ALWAYS CONFIDENT), KNOWING that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight.  We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

 2 Corinthians 5:1-8

I am confident my mom is in the presence of the Lord. She, just as well as you can be guaranteed of that. You must eat the life-giving bread, receive Jesus, and know He is who he said He is. God's loving kindness has provided for you and will continue to do so DAILY. Eat and be filled with God's Word.

I’m so happy for my mom and for her to be “HOME”. It’s only been a couple of weeks, and the incredible love poured out to our family brings comfort. The best comfort is KNOWING, BEING CONFIDENT she is living absent from this body and present with OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. I pray that you and your family may experience this Confidence.

Want Healing? Step into the Healing Pool!

STEP INTO THE HEALING POOL

Can you imagine if you were blind, deaf, crippled, arthritic, or had a sickness that didn’t allow you to get around easily? Today, many autoimmune diseases limit people's mobility. In Bible times, I don’t think they knew about autoimmune diseases, or at least they weren't labeled that way.

Was there cancer in Jesus’s day? Probably. We know there were bleeding disorders, mental illness, and addictions. We know, according to the Word of God, there was lying, homosexuality, fornication, and stealing.

What if you could go to a place called Bethesda that had a pool area where you could go for healing? There is a catch, though….you would have to wait for the water to be stirred by an angel, and you would need to get into that water right after it was stirred, before others could get there. If you are the person who is unable to move quickly enough, you would miss the healing. You are there to get healing and restoration to your sick body.

This happened to a man who had been sick for 38 years. Sounds like he may have been crippled. Jesus saw him. Jesus knew all about him. Just like Jesus knew all about the Samaritan woman I mentioned on another blog. The man lay there, and Jesus asked, “Will thou be made whole?” The man replied that he had no one to help him in the pool when the water was stirred, and that others went before him. The man continued going to the pool and lay there, who knows how many times, out of reach of what he desired. He desired to be made well. To be whole and walk.

Some of you go year after year for the same ailment to a “pool” of doctors, hoping for a cure. Hoping restoration will come to your body. Maybe you have given up hope, but keep going because you don’t know what else to do. You wait for another appointment, we will call it the stirring of the waters. Maybe this next visit will be the visit you are made whole. God sees you and knows you and your ailments.

Jesus said, “Rise, take up thy bed and walk.” And HE DID!

Jesus spoke healing to this man. This man could’ve said, “I have no one to help me up,” When Jesus told him to rise up and walk. It was Jesus' Words that helped him up. Jesus' Words can help you up, too.

Are you getting it? Why could the man get up now, but before Jesus' Words, he had no one to help him get into the pool? HE NEEDED JESUS. We need Jesus.

Guess where Jesus saw this man again. In the temple. Jesus said to him, “Behold thou art made whole. Sin no more lest a worse thing come unto thee.”

Do you want to rise, walk, and be made whole as this man was? Are you tired of waiting for the stirring of water? I have some excellent news for you. There is water that flows freely and abundantly, and it brings life. Remember the Samaritan woman at the well?

The crippled man heard God’s voice through Jesus. Healing took place in his mind, body, and soul. I say this because he went to the temple and in his humanness, his mind was also transformed from his healing experience from Jesus' spoken word.

May you find healing —mind, body, and spirit — today!
