Feeling Defeated

SOMEONE MAY NEED TO READ THIS, AS THEY MAY BE FEELING THE SAME WAY I AM FEELING....

SO DEFEATED!!   NO I DIDN’T BUY THOSE REESE’S PIECES, that’s not why those words swirled into my head.

Those words came to me as I finished my workout.

About a year and a half ago I could do a pull up or a few pullups, today, not even close. What happened? Well, I stopped what I used to do. My husband took the pull up bar out of the door frame, put it in the garage and I didn’t go get it and put it back. When it was up, I would go by it and from time to time through out the day and work on my strength for a pullup. I quit crossfit and went to a “regular” gym for about a year. I did weights but didn’t really do anything to help me get my pull up on. Some of you may understand what I’m saying. Today the workout included pullups…I had to do jump to the bar pull ups. That was even hard. What the heck!!

None the less, I do know the workout was still a good work out and my body is thankful for what it did today. I can live with the, “I AM DEFEATED” mentality. Notice, I said earlier, I FELT DEFEATED. I have matured and come to the conclusion it was okay to “feel” that way. I am not going to let what I felt send me into a depression. What that feeling has done is to tell myself to keep showing up, keep doing the work. It took me almost 3 years to get those pullups. I showed up those 3 years. I worked hard, some days harder than others.

I know from experience what showing up can do. What consistency can do. I consistently do good things and get not just good results but at times great results. If I’m consistent in doing things not good for me, I know I will get bad results. Maybe not at first, but it will catch up with me. So I will be consistent and show up. Three places I know consistency has paid off.

1. When I am consistent in reading God’s Word

2. Consistent in exercising

3. Consistent in eating healthy

The good things that come by being consistent in those areas of my life are amazing. There are things at the gym I may never be able to do just as in God’s word there are things I may never understand completely. It’s okay, because I’ve learned that consistency will pay off and I will be able to do things I never thought I could at the gym and things I understand in God’s word that sometime ago I had no clue about. So when you feel defeated, remember consistency (in good things) is key to win and gain victory over the things you thought you may not have been able to do.

Some will say and think “who cares if you can do a pull-up”. It really isn’t about that pull-up. It goes much deeper. It’s about training my mind to set itself on “higher things”. What are “higher things”? I dare say they are “things” not yet attained. Set goals, be consistent, show up and read God’s word. These are all win wins!

Philippians 3:14-15, Colossians 3:2, Hebrews 12:1-2, Romans 8:18

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ( I love these words from Paul) Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it and everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore, I run thus; not with uncertainty. Thus I fight not as one who beats the air, but I discipline my body and bring it into subjection lest when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT YOUR TRUST IN GOD?

THIS HAPPENS WHEN I PUT MY TRUST IN GOD….. (PSALM 25) When I put my trust in God, many things happen: 1. He doesn’t put me to shame 2. He will instruct me, the sinner, in His ways 3. He guides me if I’m humble to receive his guidance. 4. He will teach me 5. He forgives me 6. I’ll spend my days in prosperity 7. He makes His covenant (promises) known to me 8. He releases my feet from snares 9. He confides in me 10. Integrity and uprightness protect me Why does He do these things? 1. Because He’s loving and faithful 2. He does it for the sake of His name. God did this for His people and if you are His person , He will do it for you too!

THE NUMBER ONE THING I DO FOR TOTAL HEALTH

NUMBER ONE THING I DO FOR MY HEALTH

Look at what our problems turn into

Prayer is the best thing I can do for my health. I’m talking TOTAL HEALTH, MIND, BODY, SPIRIT.

In prayer, sitting before God, talking to Him, being thankful for the gift of life I Have in His Son Jesus Christ really transforms me. Almost transports me to a different world!

Some of you may totally understand, and some of you may not have a clue or experienced the Power of Prayer.

God, our creator, knows how we are all made. He knows all of our hearts.

I’m going to change and start talking about myself and if it fits, put “you” in there too.

He knows what gets me going “off on a tangent”. He knows when my heart is distraught within. He knows when my mind is at unrest and when it’s at rest. He knows me! ALL OF ME. Because of this, I know how much He cares about me. I know I’m cared for. I know I am loved because of what He’s done in sending His Son Jesus for me and all the sins I have done. He has purified me from the putrid state I was in.

I know I am loved. Not because of the good I do, but because of all the good God did and does continue to do, through His Son Jesus Christ, in my life.

Now back to you and me…

STOP, Take, all those worries, problems and cares (we have a lot of them daily), sit quietly with God, empty them out to Him. DON’T HOLD ANY OF THEM BACK.

In doing this God put a picture in my head. He is sitting on the throne, Jesus next to him and all around them, were boxes and the boxes all had “problems” written on them. There were BILLIONS OF THEM.

One by one the boxes started to change. The plain boxes with the word problem started to look like a beautiful gift. I saw a few of mine that looked beautiful now. I could no longer see the word “problem”. I knew they were mine. God showed me my beautiful gifts, I had once considered problems. Wow one was especially big. I think I know what problem that was. Some were not yet transformed but I know I no longer held on to them. They are left at His feet.

I realized how easy it is to have and hold onto problems, but without continuously going to God in prayer I would never get to see the gifts that were there.

I’m so thankful to God, the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. They transform me. I’ll choose to keep praying. My life, mind, body and spirit depend on it.  Jesus got the victory!

NOW THIS I KNOW: The Lord gives victory to His anointed. He answers him from His heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of His right hand. ( Psalm 20:6 )
